Andrew Nethsingha was born in 1968 and received his early musical training as a chorister in Exeter Cathedral, where his father, a pupil of Herbert Howells, was Organist for more than 25 years. Andrew's education continued at Clifton College, the Royal College of Music, and Cambridge University . He held Organ scholarships at St. George's Chapel, Windsor, under Dr. Christopher Robinson, and at St. John's College, Cambridge under Dr. George Guest. In 1990 he moved to Wells, where he was Assistant to Dr. Anthony Crossland.
In 1994 he began 8 very happy years as Master of the Choristers and Organist at Truro Cathedral, becoming the youngest Cathedral Organist in the Country. During this period the reputation of the Choir increased considerably. While at Truro he met and married Lucy, and they now have two children, Emily and Peter. He became Director of Music at Gloucester Cathedral in May 2002, and has conducted many well-known compositions and famous orchestras.
