Ian Ball MA (Oxon), FRCO, Barrister-at-Law.
Ian
Ball divides his time between law and music. Called to the Bar in 2006, Ian is
an in-house employment lawyer for an international business consultancy. He continues
to pursue a busy schedule as soloist and conductor and has been Director of
Music of Gloucester's city churches since 2002.
Before
training as a mediator led him to study law at the University of the West of
England, Ian enjoyed a successful career as a teacher, conductor and organist,
which included posts at Manchester, Bristol, Clifton
and Gloucester Cathedrals. Ian won scholarships to Oxford University
and the Royal Northern College of Music, holds degrees in music and law, and is
a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. His organ teachers have included
David Sanger, Peter Hurford, Gordon Stewart and Naji
Hakim. As a soloist, Ian has toured throughout Europe and the USA, broadcast on television and
radio, and has made several CD recordings.
Ian
has now moved to Worcester, and as he no longer
lives in our district he decided to resign his membership of the GOA and he has joined the Worcester Organists’
Association.
