The Brereton Memorial Fund was founded in memory of Philip and Gwen Brereton who died in December 2000. Throughout their lives they gave up much of their free-time to work as volunteers for the Incorporated Association of Organists, the Royal College of Organists and the Oldham Rochdale and Tameside Organists’ Association.
Each year the fund offers two bursaries to enable organ students to attend the IAO Congress, and to participate either as masterclass students or by giving part of a composite recital. The fund also awards bursaries to help individuals and groups to fund organ lessons towards an exam or other goal, promote singing in schools (especially primary schools) and encourage choral singing.
Please note! The application deadline for the Brereton Memorial Fund has been changed to 31st January each year. We hope that this eases time pressures for those who are applying for financial help towards attending educational courses such as those offered by the RCO or at Oundle. The trustees regret that we cannot consider applications at other times of the year.
