Supporting the IAO
Would you like to support
the work of the IAO?
The CSO (originally, Central Society of Organists) provides a mechanism for individuals to become members of the Incorporated Association of Organists (IAO), but who do not wish to do so via the normal route, which is to become a member of one of our affiliated UK associations or societies. There are currently over seventy of these in all parts of the UK (see https://iao.org.uk/iao-regions/). Typically, you may want to choose the CSO route to IAO membership if
- you live outside the UK, or
- you live in the UK but do not wish to join your local affiliated association, and
- you wish to subscribe to the IAO’s quarterly magazine Organists’ Review.
Please note that you cannot join the CSO without also subscribing to the magazine.
The total cost of joining the CSO for a UK resident is currently £34.00 per annum (£5 for CSO membership and £29 for Organists’ Review), which includes a discount of £2 on the normal cost of the magazine.
For overseas subscribers, the cost of CSO membership is £5 per annum plus the cost of a subscription to Organists’ Review, which varies according to your location, currently
EU £39 or Rest of the World £45 (both via airmail).
The benefits of becoming a member of the IAO currently include
- Reduced-rate entry to certain IAO-promoted events including Regional Organ Days
- Reduced-rate subscriptions to Organists’ Review magazine, widely acknowledged as the leading publication in its field (UK residents only)
- Access to the IAO Benevolent Fund in the event of financial hardship
- Discount on purchases of sheet organ music from Church Organ World
- A free quarterly news-sheet via email, often with other money-saving offers
Please note that joining the CSO does not automatically include admission to any event organised by one of the IAO’s affiliated associations/societies for the benefit of their own members, although a CSO member may be invited to join such an event at the discretion of the local association.
